Davenport-McLachlan Institute
1948
The inset photo is the architect's rendering of the future six-story Davenport-McLachlan Institute building. The larger photo is of the corner at Division Ave. and Fulton St., originally the location of the Livingston Hotel, where the new building will be constructed. The Grand Rapids Herald building will be the neighbor to the east. The text beneath the picture reads," The "Before" and "After." The empty hole to the right will soon blossom into the structure as shown to the left. Only changes in the new Davenport-McLachlan building plans are that two stories with t basement will be erected first because of the unavailability of material necessary in a seven-story structure."
