Floyd Skinner
1950s
Floyd Skinner graduated from the University of Michigan in 1926 and continued his legal career in Grand Rapids, believing in the power of legal action in securing civil rights. He was the founder of the Progressive Voter's League in the 1930s and worked to integrate African Americans into work places previously closed to them. In 1951 he was elected president of the local chapter of the NAACP. He served five terms as president.
