Notes

Title by contributor. The following narrative written by Mabel Kessler accompanied the photograph: "This photograph was taken in July of 1961 by my grandmother Celeste Kessler during a visit from her parents. They are enjoying a family picnic at Reeds Lake, which is located in East Grand Rapids. My great grandparents, Samuel Mishkin and Edith Mishkin, who are the parents of my grandmother Celeste, pose being my father and two of his three siblings. My aunt Debbie sits in the middle with my uncle Doug to the right of her, and my father, Richard, to the left. My father and his siblings were the first generation of my family to grow up in Grand Rapids. My grandparents Leonard and Celeste Kessler had both been raised in Chicago and settled in Grand Rapids after they were married."
