Circus Parade on Canal Street
1876
Large crowds gather to watch the circus parade including several horse-drawn wagons probably holding animals, tamer beasts walk in the parade, and a wagon in the left foreground carries a band on top. Telephone poles with their wires crisscross the street, some signs can be read on buildings, i.e., Queen Ins Co, J.S. Crosby & Son, and L. J. Rindge & Co.

Notes | Title by Cataloger. The Adam Forepaugh Circus was in Grand Rapids for the 1876 Centennial on July 3rd and 4th. It is uncertain whether this is a photograph of that Centennial visit or another time, but certainly a similar parade would have occurred in 1876. |
