Streetcar Parade

1926

A crowd watches the parade of streetcars as they come down Monroe Ave. from the east and turn north at the corner of Pearl St. People stand on the platforms in the street normally used for boarding the cars. Large numbers of utility lines and streetcar electric lines can be seen overhead. A few cars of the era are near the left of the photo and a bicycle rider at the far right.

Notes

Title by cataloger. The photograph was probably taken from the Pantlind Hotel at the corner of Pearl St. and Monroe Ave. The block of buildings at the right is often referred to as the Dimestore block because Woolworth's Five and Dime was at the lower corner and Kregees Dime Store (later became K-Mart) was at the upper end of the block.
