Eleven boys, many wearing knickers and knee socks, work outside Hall School. Three are using small shovels and one a pick. Names are written at the top and bottom edge of the picture and two names are written in the middle. Names written at the top edge from left to right Tony Kolehouse, Albert Ball, Harold Hamelink, Junior Schols, Kenneth B., and at the bottom edge from left to right Geo. VanEss, Peter Haga, Kenneth Wierenga, Ed VanStee, John Snap, Eugene Hiem. The names of Ed VanStee and Harold Hamelink are also written over the heads of two boys in the picture.

Title by cataloger. The date 1921 is written on the photo, but according to the 1910 census several boys in the photo were born ca 1915. The boys appear to be about ten years old rather than six so the date is estimated as 1925.
