Eastown Explosion, Looking North

Eastown Explosion, Looking North

Craig Benjamin - 2008

An explosion due to a leaking gas main caused total destruction to the building at 1500 Wealthy St. SE, at the southeast corner of Wealthy and Ethel Ave. on Tuesday, February 26th 2008. This view looks north across Wealthy St. toward Yesterdog where broken windows can be seen. Just above the windows an inset reading 'Semeyn' identifies the original owner of the building. Orange cones, a fire hose, and dirt from excavating to find the leak are in the foreground. The building at the right houses the Eastown Cafe located on Ethel Ave. Water from fire hoses has frozen and covers signs and roofs.
