Police Headquarters

The Grand Rapids Police Headquarters, at the corner of Crescent St. and Ottawa Ave., shows the same view as the postcard image from the turn-of-the-century postcard approximately sixty years later. Downspouts which appear on the earlier image of the building can also be seen in this 1959 image. An addition in 1914, following the architecture of the original, was added on the Ottawa Ave. side beyond the garage entry, and the stairs of the original front entry were changed. A Fox De Luxe beer advertisement is visible on the side of the former brewery, and a beer truck with Blatz printed on the side is exiting from the drive. Several automobiles of the time are on the street.
