Grand Rapids Police, Patrolmen

1907

Fourteen uniformed patrolmen of the Dog Watch pose on the front steps of Police Headquarters. They wear finger-length jackets with a single row of brass buttons that extend to the collar. They wear a badge on the left, and the helmets display their number within a decorative leaf pattern. Their trousers are straight with a stripe at the side. Each man carries his nightstick in his right hand. The front door of the station is behind them, and the men provide a gage to the size of the stones in the building. Their names are: 1st row, John Quick, Charlie Hunt, David Dunlap, O'Mara, John F. O'Leary, Hickcocks, Randall; 2nd row, Preston W. Porter, John Mackie, George Wells Jr.; 3rd row, Winfred Jones, Frank L Curby, Peter Viergever.
