Robinson Studio - 1949

Two Chinese girls, wearing braids and traditional dress, look at a small rickshaw, possibly made of brass, with the mother who also wears traditional dress. Each girl has a dragonfly barrette in her hair, and their mother wears small earrings. Ms. Ruby Liu is in the middle, Helen Kalsbeek Liu stands to her left, and to her right is Jean Kalsbeek Liu, the shortest of the three. Ms. Ruby Liu, a resident of Grand Rapids NW side, adopted Helen and Jean in 1938. The two girls lost their parents in the path of the invading Japanese Army in 1938. Helen married Sang Ki Lee and they currently live in Chicago.
