The grade level of the class has been identifed as fifth grade. The class and their teacher, Ms. Diane Garret, who taught at Alger for a number of years, pose on the steps of the school. The children are of various racial and ethnic backgrounds, and their hair styles and clothing are typical of the 1970s. This photo was taken on the east side of the building on the large porch that was built on that side. This was the playground side of the school, where basketball court, tennis court, summer wading pool and the playground equipment. The west side of the school was open field for play with a baseball diamond in the southwest portion.
