Eagle Hotel
Schuyler C. Baldwin - 1884 ca.
A crowd of men in suits and hats stand in front of the four story brick Eagle Hotel. Another man stands at the corner stairs leading to the basement level, perhaps where the baths advertised at the corner of the boardwalk are located. The railing at the Louis St. side protects walkers from the basement area where windows allow light into the lower level rooms. A stagecoach and horses, the Omnibus Line, await passengers at the front entrance. An early electrical streetlight is suspended above the intersection, a little above center right of the photo.
