Gypsum Mine Entrance
C. E. Walter - 1906
Two mine employees, standing at the entrance of the gypsum or plaster mine, provide perspective to the size of the tunnel. The ledge above the entrance supported by timbers is probably there to prevent falling rocks and earth from falling on the tracks that can be seen in the foreground leading to the entrance of the mine. The fence at the top of the photo may indicate the presence of a road.
