Girl in a silk dress

Girl in a silk dress

1850s

A young girl sits at a Victorian table, her arm placed on a cloth-covered round table, looking straight at the camera. Her off-the-shoulder dress with short sleeves and low-cut shoes with ties that wrap around the ankles relect styles of the 1850s. The sheen of the fabric identifies it as silk rather than muslin. Her short hair held back with a headband appears quite modern. Parts of her sleeve and the tablecloth have been tinted.
