Portrait of Two Catholic Nuns

Portrait of Two Catholic Nuns

1940-1950

Though Sister Mary and Sister Mary Gabriella were not Carmelite nuns, they did belong to another religious order in the diocese of Grand Rapids in the early twentieth century. These nuns’ garments are similar to what Carmelite sisters wear, although Carmelites are required to always wear woolen material.
