Rev. George N. Smith, his wife Arvilla Almira (Powers) Smith, pose for a formal portrait; the two younger women are Esther Ann, the Smith's youngest daughter on the right, and Arvilla Wolfe, daughter of Payson Wolfe and Mary Jane Smith on the left. The women wear high-necked dresses and severe hair styles typical of the time period. Rev. Nelson sports a full beard.
