The building at the center, the former Herpolsheimer's Department Store, currently houses the Grand Rapids Police Department, State of Michigan offices, and the U.S. Bankruptcy Court of Western Michigan. The tall building in the distance is the former Michigan National Bank Building. The grey monument is dedicated to those who fought and died during the Civil War.
