Cesar E. Chavez School rises on the right and a portion of the new building has had the brick facing applied, the older Hall School is on the far left, and the gymnasium of the new school is between them. A construction worker, wearing yellow boots and a hard hat, walks in front of a concrete truck from Burgess Concrete Construction supplies poured concrete for the floors. In front of the truck is the apparatus for lifting concrete blocks to floors above and a portion of the yellow fork-lift is seen in front of the gym.

This building replaces the former Hall Elementary School, built in 1955-56, at the same location and is the third building on the site. The new building occupies the same position on the property as the original building, built in 1892.
