The red riding trowel in the foreground is used to smooth the concrete floor after is has partially dried. Through the opening at the left of the photo is another riding trowel, raised above the floor, which will be lowered when the concrete has set enough to support its weight.

This building replaces the former Hall Elementary School, built in 1955-56, at the same location and is the third building on the site. The new building occupies the same position on the property as the original building, built in 1892.
